A new little fella has made his way into the world and these blocks recently made a ferry journey in the satchel of a good friend to keep the little guy company.



Both of these vintage prints were a fantastic find and look AMAZING done up with upcycled chocolate brown corduroy. Stuffed with wool and tucked into a coordinating drawstring bag, I have just enough for 3 more similar sets ... make your order before they are all scooped up!

Introducing the Ostrich Landing Pad

Little R and I are traveling to the Okanagan tomorrow to visit my parents. We'll be there for four days and there's SNOW! It's getting late and I still haven't packed my case, so I really shouldn't be sitting here eating Almond Rocha and writing this blog. I should be running around the house searching for my travel size toothpaste and other small things, but I really want to tell you about these two exciting bits of Dress Me Up news:

First, the Ostrich Landing Pad has arrived!



A soon-mom-to-be in New York helped hatch the next product in the Ostrich line ... the Ostrich Landing Pad. Stephanie was interested in the Oilcloth Change Pad that comes tucked inside my Casey Diaper Change Case - but wanted something with a bit more cushion. While I love the look of many of the changing pads that are plumped up with minky and fleece and other cuddly soft things, I can't get past the fact that those pads need a good wash in the machine if they get, well, poopy. And that's not so easy to do when on the go.

We bounced a few ideas back and forth, and in no time I finalized the design for the Ostrich Landing Pad and had a prototype sewn up. I have to say, it's pretty darn cool.

The Ostrich Landing Pad is made from two layers of Faux Ostrich Leather sewn and then top-stitched together, and held compactly in place with the tried-and-true elastic loop system (sewn into the seam, it can't be lost!) that slips snuggly around Landing Pad when it's all folded up.



Features

• Water resistant making it quick and easy to clean up with a wet wipe when you're out and about.
• Machine wash cold and line dry when you're back at home.
• Approx 4mm thick, providing a bit of cushion for your little one's derriere.
• Slightly textured, giving enough traction to prevent your babe from scooting around.
• Big enough to do the trick, but no so big that it's unruly on that springloaded changing table.
• Folds up neat and tidy, and stays that way.

There's just enough material to squeeze out two sets of Upcycled Soft Blocks from this amazing vintage cotton print.




Raggedy Andy Patchwork
This vintage cotton print immediately reminded me of my friend Simone, and there's a fair bit of it, so I'm going to make up something darling for her Little N ... and then pair the rest with some chocolate brown and navy blue corduroy for a happy Drooly Bib or two.




60s Floral
I LOVE this vintage cotton print - it's from a tablecloth and is so soft and worn with many a wash that I imagine followed many a wonderful meal. Vintage Linen Burp Cloth Sets, Drooly Bibs, Upcycled Soft Blocks - there's enough of this gem to make one of just about everything.




Organic Night Sky Jersey Knit
I am absolutely smitten with this simple knit - it's earmarked for a handful of new Organic Knotty Caps (and I do mean a handful - pre-order to be sure to get one) that I'll be featuring at an upcoming event, the Victoria Tea Festival.

New Year, New Blog ... finally!

I have a to-do list as long as my arm, and though 'blog' has been near the top for over two weeks now I just haven't had the hands free to sit down to tickle the computer's ivories (I have an iMac - keys are white.).

Not accounting for family time away and my time for rest, Little R is thrilled by the click click click of the keys and the red flash of the mouse's eye. She stands on her toes and demands to sit on my lap whenever I'm at the computer, and while it's endearing to watch her mimic my hand movements, our shared computer time is never very productive. So apologies, dear Readers, if I left you wondering for too long where Dress Me Up got herself off to this holiday season.


Family Trip to Seattle

Right now, however, Little R is on her way to bed with Papa, Grandpa (visiting for a week) is doing the dishes and I'm about to make my way to the sewing studio. I have a handful orders to fill this week, including an exciting one for a new shop opening this month in Innisfail, Alberta - and ! - I have a fantastic mountain of textured organic cottons that just arrived, that are inspiring me to dream up a ton of new products.

I'll tell you more about it all when I get the Innisfail order finished up, and after I find my camera ... it's in one of our suitcases, somewhere, I'm sure.
