I celebrated World Water Conservation day in a slightly unusual way ... and I'm going to leave you dangling over a pool of suspense by not telling you what I did - but know that it was blissfully, blissfully refreshing. Waves and Ripples, Water and Cotton

I use certified organic cotton for all of my soft toys and teethers - this is cotton that has been grown in the USA using certified organic methods, and processed in a American, certified mill. I am passionate about organics - organic food, organic clothing, organic bedding and personal products - and for reasons far greater than my own personal health and lifestyle choices.

Organic products make a positive and sustainable difference at every level of their production - from the kinds of seeds used, the methods of farming and harvesting, the processing and finishing, the actual making of the product, and now, in many cases, how products are even distributed and sold. Organic products are transforming the perception and understandings of traditional production practices and their global impact. For me, thinking about and buying organic products has revolutionized how I engage with all the products in my life.

I find it so exciting and empowering knowing that what I bring into my house matters. And I like that I can be part of making important changes happen - like helping to protect and conserve water - when I go organic.

I'll Drink to That!

Tomorrow, March 22nd, is World Water Day. Here's a link to help you get started with water conservation in your families lives, and to mark tomorrow's festivities. And here's a link to theWATERproject.ca, a project founded my my husband Nathaniel and our good friend Wade, that is making sustainable access to clean drinking water a reality for two small villages in Ghana.



Make tomorrow a water conservation day in your household! Wear blue. Make a special effort to use as little water as possible. Talk about ways to save water everyday - and if you're really keen, set up a jar and collect 5 cents every time you or a family member washes their hands, 25 cents for every toilet flush, and 50 cents for every shower or bath.

At the end of the day, tally up your collection and talk about how much water you used - then donate your collection to theWATERproject.ca, the Council of Canadians or another water-security project of your choice.

Swirly Prints

I am out of a few of my printed fabrics, so I couldn't delay screen printing any longer. This morning I bundled myself up, went down to the garage and got myself set up for a morning of printing.

During. This is just the first 'layer' of print - I went back and overlaid this layer with a darker shade of blue, in the same tree trunk swirly pattern, off setting the screen's placement on the fabric.

On the weekend, this fabric will become Cloth Balls like these - and some will be sent off to a new retailer, Community Natural Foods in Calgary AB.

In time for Spring

Today this basket of 5 Rabbit Rattles + one more, are making their way north to a childrens boutique in Courtenay. What a perfect gift for baby's first Easter!

I'm Going to an Art Show

I've blogged and tweeted about my newly found, skilled and visionary designer, Matt Politano of Oculus Design. Turns out he's an accomplished photographer as well, and he's having a show of his work. The Opening is this Thursday; it would be wonderful to see you there.
