In Full Effect

Woo-hoo! What a blast today was! Thanks, everyone, for coming by and shopping. The Teething Bonbons were my number one seller, followed up by my Birch Inspired Cloth Balls! It was a successful day and I'm really looking forward to another one tomorrow (after a nice, long, leg resting sleep). I met a great woman, owner of InBed Organics, located in Vancouver, and one of the owners of Sprouts, located here in town - there may be some local retail locations cookin'. I'll keep you posted, but be sure to check them out in the meantime - and don't miss this very excellent, local organic onesie company too - Zee-Spot!



I had my camera out, sitting almost beside me all day, and yet I didn't remember to take one single picture while today's event was happening! After the masses left I took a few up close and arty shots of my display units - check out the excellent screen printed motifs and fine craftsmanship. I had many admiring comments today on the booth alone.



Tomorrow I am making it my mission to document the amazing women who are helping me out this weekend - Leanne, Janine, Mercedes and of course, Amie! Thank you so much, my beautiful friends!

3 Snaps from Setting Up

Upon remembering that I forgot the table

Set up for the Vancouver Island Baby Fair went really well - once I remembered the table that I forgot at home ... it took an hour to pick it up and get back to the venue - with a few minor gliches here and there, like missing lights, and when did 64 square feet get so small??? Amie was her booth up too - she's right beside me promoting her Massage Therapy practice - it was great to be setting up together.

So these are a couple of pictures from almost nothing to something great! I was one of the last exhibitors out of the space trying to get as much pricing done as possible, repeating the mantra "there will be enough time, it will be enough" over and over again to keep myself from spinning off into the arial abyss of trying to do every. single. thing. possible. In the end, it worked!


8:30 pm and (almost) ready to go, then they kicked me out. ;)

(still) Got Tickets!

Hey! No body scooped up my freebies! Must be because everyone has their tickets already, or won one of the many sets given away on the radio and at other people's shops - it's amazing the press that the Vancouver Island Baby Fair has received! I can't wait to see the masses today, it's going to be hoppin'!

I have a couple of pics from setting up last night (only the good, i'll censor the bad & the ugly - have you ever set up for a tradeshow before?! ) but my computer isn't cooperating with the upload this morning - check back tonight! And I'll have news from today's adventures too!

Just a quick post this morning, the bee hive is a-buzz already - today my folks pull out of town and we're working together putting the finishing touches on things like signs and soft blocks and receiving blanket & burp sets before they hit the road. It's raining and we're cozy inside, listening to Sophia Lauren (thanks Si!) while working away.

Last night I stitched through 40 sets of the Organic Burp Cloths and 18 Organic Receiving Blankets. I've decided that I'm going to offer them individually instead of as a set - some folks have been asking for burp cloths only, and others just want the blanket. It got me thinking ... why would a burp cloth and a blanket be in a set together? Wouldn't it make more sense, if I were to have sets, that I would pair the burp cloths with something equally intended to catch the mess, something like a bib?

It's a busy bee hive on our Fair Street - my folks are in town, and in addition to all the usual (and unusual) grandparent things, both of my parents are pulling out all the stops to help me prepare for the upcoming Vancouver Island Baby Fair. I have to tell you, the 27th and 28th of September are looming large. Lorraine's sewing kit is always at the ready - her nimble fingers have been sewing up soft block after soft block, and today she's branching out to cloth balls! Dad has been putting the finishing touches on my aMAzing display unit, and working with Amie (my sister) on her Pregnancy Massage Therapy booth for the Baby Fair too.

There's been lots of other things happening too - website furry (it's coming, it's coming!), dear friends making the transatlantic move to Portugal in mere days, enjoying the last days of summer with my mama friends and their little ones, a beautiful retreat at Camp Moorecroft where I was thrilled to be the theme leader, and, of course - sewing sewing sewing.


Little R. and our friend C., who is off to Lisboa! We'll miss you so much, and simply can not wait to visit.

Bloomin' Awesome

As you know, I'm working on my new website design and while it's taking a wee bit longer than I hoped it would, I'm having an interesting time getting the pieces together and learning about all sorts of ecommerce related things.

Today as I was schmoogling around to see what different sets of keywords are currently bringing up which sorts of organic and natural delights, I found myself - well, my Bonbons - here! Blomma Finds is a great site (I love their banner and commitment to days of the week) that finds and reviews loads of beautiful products and ideas - while keeping it simple and fresh. Oh, and fun - Blomma owner, Erika, even worked a wee quiz into my Teething Bonbon review! (insert wink here)
