Welcome, sweet Baby
Just a quick, quick post to let you all know that our wee babe arrived on June 17th ~ healthy and strong and swiftly birthed at home ~ and we're all doing well. Welcome to the world, June Charlotte!

The Living Room Wall
Between orienting Andrea to Dress Me Up and getting all sorts of everything ready for Baby No. 2, I've also been doing a fair amount of big project nesting - like rearranging the garden shed and garage, laundering everything in the linen closet and making curtains for the dining room, kitchen AND bedroom (though none of them are actually finished ... do unhemmed fabric panels hanging from ring clips count as 'making' curtains?) One project I'm thrilled about getting to - though I admit, it too is not fully complete - is my vintage picture frame collection. It's up! and finally adorning our living room wall.
The wall before:
From the day we moved in I've not been a fan of our living room wall colour, but as renters and considering the living room/dining room/hallway walls uniform-colour-expansiveness (meaning a lot of wall) we've chosen to not repaint. For almost two years this wall has been blank, waiting for me to collect enough vintage wooden frames to fill the space, and for me to make up my mind about just how they should go. In recent months our living room decor has been defined by stacks and stacks of laundry and a beautiful mandala drawing (done by my girlfriends at my recent Blessingway, more on that in a blog post to come). Collecting and visioning complete, it became time to tidy up and get the project done.

I saw this tip on a design show. I traced the frames onto paper, taped the paper to the wall, nudged and moved and rearranged, and then easily tapped the picture hangers through the paper and into the wall - centred and exact. It was a breeze.
The wall after:
I love the arrangement of the frames. Nathaniel and I plan to replace a few of the images with pictures from our pre-family traveling days, but in the meantime I'm diggin' the bizarre assortment of content. Who ever thought I'd have a dude with a gun on my wall?

Introducing: Andrea Wong
This is a picture of Andrea, my new staff woman. Doesn't she look fun! Lissa had just set up our gear for a photo shoot and Andrea was helping me to 'test' the yellow backdrop. Soon after this shot was taken, little A and little W were rippin' up the goods, having a great time. Check out more pictures from the shoot, below!
Andrea's taking over the administrative pieces of Dress Me Up while I take a maternity leave - if you place an order or contact us, it will be Andrea bundling up your order and getting back to you. I'm a-waitin' for the wee babe to start her journey to earthside - ANY DAY NOW! - and already, having Andrea has had a fantastic impact on my ability to chill out and prepare for baby's arrival. Hooray for Andrea!

Raves for Ravelry
I'm not really a knitter or crocheter, but I would LOVE to be. I have so many little projects started with the wrong sized needles for the (often expensive) yarn I feel in love with, attempts at moss stitch and skipped stitches and added stitches - and once I even tried a cable stitch. My garter stitch is awesome, if I do say so myself, but just so darn boring.
I got an email notification that some members on Ravelry mentioned my Teething Bonbon in a forum, so I popped over to the site to see their comments and I created an account - I was just so impressed with the site itself, the comments on the forums I checked out, and of course that it gets a nod from both Amanda Blake-Soulemama and one of my staff gals, knitter extraordinaire, Ms Lissa.
I'm hoping Ravelry will help me embrace the learning of knitting more, and inspire me to finish 1. the prayer shawl I started for Ruby when she was in the hospital for surgery 3 years ago, and 2. the baby cocoon that I have just started for the yet-to-be-borned babe. Lissa would be a great inspiration too, but she's off to the sunny Okanagan for the summer. We'll miss you Lissa!
