A couple of weeks ago I was SO excited when my shipment of certified organic USA cotton flannel arrived, and on a holiday Monday no less. A giant freight truck pulled up and the driver told me to move my car. He had a hydraulic hand lift for the pine palette that held the 5 giant rolls of organic yummy-ness that I ordered for my Teething Bonbons. He steered the palette down my driveway and lowered it to the garage floor ... and then left. Unfortunately, there was a mistake (mistake?) at the mill and I was delivered the wrong fabric. The wrong fabric! 300 yards of it. And no hydraulic hand lift to move it out of the way.



So, I'm selling it at cost, and hopefully quickly ... our garage looks like it's being swallowed by something from the X-Files, and a replacement shipment is soon to be on its way.

Here are the details:

• Unbleached, undyed
• USA grown and milled
• 57 inches wide

It's a very loose weave - not at all like conventional flannel. And it's very cozy fuzzy. I will be keeping some for personal projects - but really, even if I did curtains for all of our windows, duvets for all of our beds, pillow shams for all of our throw cushions, and a bib for the cat I would still have yards and yards left over. I just entered an excellent contest on Tiny Decor's blog - it's an Eco Nursery Give Away in celebration of Tiny Decor's first blogging anniversary.



When I first heard of the contest I wasn't going to enter because I thought that maybe Lil R's room isn't eco enough in comparison to all those real eco nurseries out there - you know, the ones that are all light and airy and sleek and modern, expensive and, oh yeah - clean. But thinking about it more, I realised that I put a lot of eco-sense into R's room and darn it, I would share it (and the dust bunnies).

And I think you should share too. Before noon tomorrow.

Live and In Person, May 2nd at the Moss Street Market

Make Note ~ May 2nd is the first Full Moss Street Market Day, and the first day that I will be at the Market with my wares. We (the Market Community) do have a Half Market Day this Sat, the 25th but I won't be there. Our Half Markets showcase our Organic Farmers - come get the first veg of the season! Last week Nathaniel and I bought herbs from Backyard Fresh, salad greens from Kildara Farm and asian veg from Umi Nami Farm. Yummy!

I am soOoooo busy right now gearing up for the start of the Moss Street Market and EPIC Sustainable Living Expo that my eyes are bugging out of my head and my right hand seems to be permanently numb from being raised while typing and sewing (I know, I know). The count down is on and frenetic energy is filling every corner of our house. Last year around this time it was frenetic energy AND piles of fabric and stock and display items filling every corner, but this year I have my own sewing room and at least the stuff is contained.

I Heart Laundry Lines

It was sunny last weekend, so I threw open the garage door and set up the worktable for a screen printing session. I hung the printed fabric on the laundry line between colour runs, and in 1.5 hrs I got 12 yards of fabric finished up. This green swirl print has already been cut up for soft blocks and cloth balls!

Community Natural Foods

I've got a new retailer carrying my product line in Calgary, Alberta: Community Natural Foods! I love their tag line, "nourishing our community since 1977", and am really, really excited to have another location* in Alberta.



Each summer at the Moss Street Market, my local farmers market, I have many Albertan customers choosing my products as gifts for new little ones in their lives. With every sale, I would hear from them how organic and natural items for babies are few and far between in Alberta. Community Natural Foods has been one of those few spots offering organic foods and quality products for healthy, daily living for over 30 years! It's wonderful to be part of their community.
