Imagine a Night ...

Last night, as N. was putting Little R. to bed for the evening, I pulled out the giant roll of organic cotton flannel from behind the couch, snipped open the plastic shipping bag, slid the roll out and tumbled it across our living room floor ... 60 yards of glorious organic flannel laid out in 3 yard lengths for cutting. The floor was transformed into a snow-covered plain, a frozen river, a giant canvas, a taut trampoline, a perfectly pulled bed sheet, a ream of a giant's note paper, a slice of heaven. Tumbling and pulling and cutting and folding, I was reminded of another one of my favourite children's books, Imagine a Night, that I bought at the Naramata MustardSeed Bookstore - my favourite place to buy books.

Little R., on her little perch in her little hiding place, watching the birds twitter in the honeysuckle hedge the rims our front stoop, and eating toast. Thank goodness the roll was shipped covered in thick, grey, toasty finger-resistant plastic.
